How we research slot information, verify numerical data, and correct mistakes.

This page explains, in practical terms, how content on Slots Guide South Africa is produced and maintained. It exists so readers can judge for themselves how much weight to put on what we publish.

How game information is researched

Each slot article on this site is put together by reviewing publicly available information about that specific game: provider-published game rules and help screens, official provider press material, and, where accessible, direct demo-mode gameplay of the title itself. We describe what a game does — its reel and grid layout, its symbol set, its wild and scatter behaviour, its bonus round structure — based on what is documented or observable, not on assumption.

We do not rely on a single secondhand source for factual claims where we can help it. Where a mechanic is unusual or easy to misdescribe (for example, the exact trigger condition for a bonus round, or whether a feature is available in the base game versus only in free spins), we prefer to describe it in general, accurately hedged terms rather than state a precise detail we cannot confirm.

How numerical data is verified

Figures such as Return to Player (RTP) percentage, volatility rating, reel and payline counts, and maximum win multipliers are only published on this site when they appear in official provider documentation or official game information panels. We treat these figures as provider-stated values, not independently laboratory-tested values, and we describe them as such.

Where a reliable figure is not available to us at the time of writing — for instance, if a provider has not published an official maximum win multiplier for a title — we omit that field entirely rather than estimate, average, or invent a number. A missing statistic on this site should be read as "not currently verifiable to us," not as an oversight.

We also note that some providers offer more than one RTP configuration for the same game (common in markets where operators can select from a range of configured RTP values). Where this is the case and it's material, we try to note that variation rather than present a single figure as universal.

What we will never publish

  • Invented or estimated RTP, volatility, max-win, or paytable figures
  • Fabricated star ratings, review scores, or "editor's rating" schemes dressed up as objective measurement
  • Fake testimonials, fake "verified player" quotes, or invented case studies of wins or losses
  • Claims of laboratory testing, certification or auditing that this publication has not itself performed or commissioned
  • Invented company history, staff biographies, or awards for Slots Guide South Africa itself

Structured data and schema

Where this site uses schema.org structured data (for example, WebPage, Article, BreadcrumbList, or FAQPage markup), the structured data is built to describe content that is actually visible on the page. We do not add Review or AggregateRating schema, because we do not publish user reviews or ratings, and adding that markup without genuine underlying reviews would misrepresent the page to search engines.

Updates and corrections

Slot games are occasionally updated by their providers — a bonus feature can be adjusted, an RTP configuration can change, or a provider can issue a "remastered" version of a title (as has happened, for example, with the 1000-variant versions of several popular games). When we become aware of a change of this kind, we update the relevant article rather than leaving outdated information live.

If a reader identifies a factual error, an outdated figure, or a broken link anywhere on this site, we want to know about it. Reports can be submitted through our Contact page. We review correction requests and update the article, along with a note where the correction is substantive.

Independence

Slots Guide South Africa is not an online casino and does not currently operate as an affiliate website — see our About page for detail. This editorial policy applies equally to every article on the site regardless of which provider or game it covers; no studio receives more favourable treatment in exchange for coverage, because no studio is currently paying for coverage on this site.

Not gambling advice

Nothing on this site constitutes advice to gamble, a prediction of outcomes, or a suggestion that any game can be beaten through strategy. See our responsible play notice for more.
